Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Karl of Württemberg, depicted as an elderly monarch with short hair and a full beard. The truncation of the bust is plain and unadorned. The surrounding legend reads KARL KOENIG VON WUERTTEMBERG, arranged along the inner border of beaded denticles. The portrait is rendered in a naturalistic, high-relief style typical of German state coinage of the late 19th century.
