Obverse description Facing spread-winged Imperial eagle with displayed wings, the head turned to the right, surmounted by an Imperial crown flanked by two smaller crowns atop each wing. A decorative shield bearing the Hohenzollern arms is affixed to the breast of the eagle. Elaborate oak-leaf and scroll ornamentation decorates the lower portion of the design. The mint mark 'J' appears twice at the base of the eagle, flanking the lower scroll.
