Obverse description Facing heraldic Imperial German eagle with wings spread, surmounted by an imperial crown at the apex. The eagle bears on its breast a small shield charged with the Hohenzollern arms. Decorative scroll-work and oak-leaf sprigs adorn the lower portion of the design. The mintmark 'F' appears in the lower exergue below the eagle's talons, within a beaded inner border.
