Obverse description The left panel carries the heraldic coat of arms of Nieheim — a red shield divided by a gold cross bearing four gold roundels, surmounted by a crenellated tower gateway — set against a gold foliate underprint, with the denomination '1 Mark' in Gothic letterpress below. The right panel, separated by a ruled border, presents the issuing text in blackletter script on a plain ground, with the oval official stamp of the Vorschuß-Verein zu Nieheim e.G. and three manuscript signatures of the authorising officers at the foot.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in monochrome black on uncoloured paper and centres on a detailed line-engraved vignette of a timber-framed patrician house at the Richterplatz in Nieheim, captioned 'Altes Patrizierhaus am Richterplatz'. The denomination '1 Mark' appears in circular cartouches at upper left and upper right. Four stanzas of patriotic verse in Gothic script — attributed at the foot to F. W. Weber's Dreizehnlinden — fill the lower portion of the note in two columns.

1 Mark
