| Obverse description | Green and red bicolour notgeld issued for the 700th anniversary of Bielefeld (1221–1921). The upper portion carries a panoramic vignette of the city skyline flanked by two scrolling banners inscribed with historical dates, above which the issuing institution's name appears in Gothic script. At centre, a seated allegorical female figure holds a sceptre before the municipal coat of arms bearing the dates 1221/1921, flanked by the denomination '1 MARK' in bold letterpress on each side; grotesque mask figures in Art Nouveau style ornament the lateral borders. The lower margin bears the date '15. Mai Juli 1921', the authority 'Magistrat der Stadt Bielefeld – 700 Jahrfeier', and two facsimile signatures with the titles Oberbürgermeister and Bürgermeister. |
