Obverse description A boldly rendered heraldic Weimar Republic eagle displayed with wings spread, head turned to the right, and talons clutching crossed implements at the base. The bird's breast and wing feathers are finely detailed in high relief against a smooth field. A small six-pointed star appears below the eagle at the lower center. The legend EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT (Unity and Justice and Freedom) curves along the outer border, separated from the eagle by a beaded inner ring.
