Obverse description Central field dominated by a large crowned quartered coat of arms of Sweden, displaying the three crowns of Sweden and the lion of the Folkung dynasty in alternate quarters, with the date split across the lower portion of the shield. The arms are surmounted by a royal crown of elaborate form. A circular legend in Latin reads around the periphery, identifying the ruler as Karl by the Grace of God, designated King and hereditary Prince of Sweden. The coin is struck by the hammered method, giving the flan a characteristic irregular outline typical of early seventeenth-century Swedish coinage.

Reverse description The reverse presents a striking and unusual iconographic programme for a European coin of this period. At the centre, within a sunburst or radiate inner circle, the Tetragrammaton (the Hebrew name of God, יהוה) is prominently engraved in Hebrew characters. Surrounding the central motif is an inner beaded border, beyond which a circular Latin legend reads IEHOVA · SOLATIVM · MEVM (Jehovah is my comfort), interspersed with decorative stops. The outermost legend, separated by a further border, gives the denomination and currency identification: I · MARK · SVENSKA, completing the design with clear denominational reference.
