Obverse description Dark-toned notgeld note with a central circular vignette of a medieval knight or legendary figure (the Rodenstein) in bust portrait, set against a decorative guilloche border. Flanking vignettes depict local landmarks: the ruins of Rodenstein castle to the left and the church of Fränkisch-Crumbach to the right, each captioned in letterpress. The denomination '1 Mark' appears in bold block numerals at lower left and right, with the issuing text and date 'Den 1. April 1921' in Gothic script across the lower portion, above two manuscript signatures on behalf of the Stiftungsvorstand.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in the same dark ink on a light ground, with two full-length armoured medieval knights standing as lateral border figures flanking a central text panel. The text panel reproduces seven stanzas of the Rodenstein legend poem (by Scheffel) in Gothic blackletter script, framed by ornamental guilloche bands. Denomination numerals '1 Mark' appear at top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right corners, with a lower central cartouche referencing the memorial of Hans Heinrich zu Rodenstein in the church of Fränkisch-Crumbach.
