| Obverse description | The obverse presents a full-colour lithographed vignette of the Erholungsheim Walsrode convalescent home set in the Lüneburger Heide, rendered in a watercolour-style illustration signed by the artist H. de Bruycken at lower left. The denomination '1 MARK' appears in white lettering within blue-grey ornamental panels at left and right, above the central heading 'GUTSCHEIN' in bold Gothic script. At lower left a small inset carries the arms of the Stadt Walsrode, while at lower right an ornate monogram cartouche of the issuing organisation is printed; below the vignette a text block in Fraktur script states the note's origin as a gift from members of the Kaufmännischen Vereins von 1858, Hamburg, for the 50th anniversary in 1908, followed by the expiry date and the issuer name, accompanied by a manuscript signature. |

| Reverse description | The reverse carries a full-colour lithographed scene illustrating a convoy of covered horse-drawn wagons travelling across a snow-covered heath landscape, after a painting by H. de Bruycken, whose signature appears at lower right of the vignette. The central image is framed by elaborate blue-grey ornamental borders incorporating stylised acanthus scrollwork and heraldic lion masks at the upper corners. A text panel above the scene bears a verse quotation by Hermann Allmers in Fraktur script, while a lower panel identifies the subject in bold Fraktur lettering; the printer's imprint 'Hartung & Co., Hamburg' appears at the lower left margin. |
| Reverse lettering | Wenn trüb das verlöschende letzte Rot herschimmert über die Heide... Hermann Allmers. Zug Hamburger Kaufleute durch die Heide bei Walsrode um 1800 Hartung & Co., Hamburg. |
