Reverse description The denomination and date are arranged on three horizontal lines within a raised, thick circular border: the numeral '1' flanked by pellets on the uppermost line, the word 'MARCK' in bold Gothic lettering across the centre, and the date '1563' flanked by pellets on the lower line. The inscription is rendered in a plain, legible style typical of wartime klippe emergency coinage. The flat square flan shows the irregular hand-cut edges characteristic of klippe production.
