Reverse description Central device consisting of three Swedish crowns (tre kronor) arranged two over one within a plain inner circle, surmounted by a large royal crown with arched top and jewelled band. To the left of the inner circle appears the mint-master initial L, and to the right the assayer initial C, with the denomination numeral I to the left and M (for Mark) to the right of the shield. The date 17 21 is divided at the top of the coin, flanking the royal crown. The circumferential legend IN • DEO • SPES • MEA •, meaning 'In God is my hope,' runs around the periphery and is read in coin alignment.
