| Obverse description | Red-bordered notgeld issued in the name of the City of Sömmerda in Thuringia, with the title inscription across the top cartouche identifying the town as Dreyse's birthplace. The central vignette, printed in green and black, shows two soldiers in period uniform demonstrating the loading procedure of the Dreyse needle gun, flanked by two text panels in blackletter script recounting the steps of the unloading process. The denomination 'Eine Mark' appears in a bold blackletter cartouche at the lower centre, with the issue date 'Sömmerda, den 1. August 21' and two manuscript signatures of the Magistrat to the lower right. |
