Reverse description The central field carries a three-line inscription in bold Gothic lettering reading 'MARCK / DANSKE / 1541', denoting the denomination and date, enclosed within a beaded inner border. Above the inscription, a small crowned initial or ornament is visible at the top of the inner circle. The circumferential legend, running around the full periphery between the beaded border and the coin's edge, proclaims the king's titles over Norway, the Wends, and the Goths in Latin. The lettering exhibits the characteristic bold, square Gothic style of Danish hammered silver coinage of the reign of Christian III. The flan is irregular, as is typical of hammered production of this era.
