Bad Albersdorf is a small spa town in Schleswig-Holstein, and its 1922 emergency issue belongs to the vast wave of German municipal Notgeld produced as hyperinflation began its acceleration. The Louis Koch printing house in Halberstadt was a minor regional printer that fulfilled a number of these small-town commissions during the period — workmanlike output rather than the elaborate artistic pieces some municipalities commissioned from prestige printers.
The watermarked paper is notable for a note of this type; many comparable Kleingeldscheine of 1922 dispensed with security features entirely, given that most were expected to circulate only weeks before redemption.
