| Reverse description | The reverse is printed in black on a pale grey-tan ground and carries a bold diamond-shaped silhouette vignette illustrating the mass execution of 4,500 Saxons ordered by Charlemagne at Verden in 782, with figures of a mounted warrior, an executioner raising an axe, and a kneeling condemned man rendered in stark black silhouette.
