Obverse description Central field displays a frontal figure of the Virgin Mary enthroned, crowned and nimbed, holding a sceptre or orb, set above the city arms of Korbach. The arms feature a six-pointed star on a shield, flanked by foliate or branch-like ornamental supporters. The surrounding legend, separated by stops, reads MO : NO : CIVI : CORBECK (Moneta Nova Civitatis Corbeck — New Coin of the City of Korbach), distributed around the inner border. The coin is struck on an irregular flan characteristic of hammered coinage of the period, with a beaded inner border.
