Obverse description Central device depicts a stylized castle of three towers, the heraldic symbol of Castile, set within a beaded inner circle. The castle is rendered in a simplified, bold style typical of hammered coinage of the period, with the central tower rising above two flanking turrets and an arched gateway visible at the base. A partial royal legend surrounds the castle in the field, reading PHILIPPVS III D G OMNIVM, interrupted by the irregular flan edge. The denomination numeral III appears below the castle in the exergue.
