Reverse description Central oval shield bearing the semé-de-lis arms of France — three fleurs-de-lis arranged 2-1 on a plain field — surmounted by a large royal crown with fleur-de-lis finial and elaborate acanthus-and-arch decoration. Two crowned angels serve as supporters flanking the shield. The circular Latin legend around the periphery reads CHRS • REGN • VINC • IMP, an abbreviation of 'Christus Regnat Vincit Imperat' (Christ Reigns, Conquers, Commands). The mint mark D, identifying the Lyon mint, appears at the base of the design below the shield.
