The Banque de Syrie et du Grand-Liban was a French-controlled institution operating under the Mandate, and its notes were printed by the Banque de France — an arrangement that reflected Paris's determination to keep monetary control firmly within metropolitan hands rather than delegating it to a colonial printer.
