Obverse description The Doge kneels at left before the Madonna and Child, who appear in a cloud formation at upper right, the ducal corno resting on the ground before him in a gesture of humble devotion. The composition reflects the traditional Venetian votive iconography. The value numeral XX appears in the exergue. The circumferential legend reads IOANNES· CORN·D· in Latin, identifying the reigning Doge Giovanni Corner II.
