| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Victor Emmanuel II facing right, with curly hair and a prominent beard with sideburns, rendered in high relief in a Risorgimento-era neoclassical style. The king's effigy occupies the central field with a truncated neck at the base. The circular legend VITTORIO - EMANUELE II is inscribed around the periphery, divided to left and right of the portrait, with the date 1859 placed in the exergue below the bust.
