| Reverse description | A finely detailed portrait of a Mediterranean Monk Seal (Monachus monachus) depicted in three-quarter profile, facing left, with prominent whiskers rendered in high relief against a smooth field. The legend 'AKDENİZ FOKU' (Mediterranean Seal) arcs along the upper periphery of the central brass disc within the bimetallic format. A small engraver's initial appears at the lower right of the design. The composition forms part of Turkey's endangered wildlife conservation coin series. |

| Additional information |
The Mediterranean monk seal (*Monachus monachus*) was chosen for this issue as part of Turkey's broader wildlife conservation series, reflecting the animal's precarious status along the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts — the global population was estimated at fewer than 700 individuals at the time of minting. Turkey hosts one of the two remaining significant breeding colonies, concentrated around the Foça Special Environmental Protection Area established in 1993.
