Additional information

Turkey's wildlife-themed bimetallic lira series, launched in the early 2010s, was issued partly in response to growing domestic interest in conservation currency following similar programs in neighboring European states. The long-eared hedgehog (Hemiechinus auritus) is native across much of Anatolia and Central Asia, though its inclusion in this series reflects the Turkish Mint's deliberate push toward endemic fauna rather than charismatic megafauna favored by other national programs.

Circulation strikes from this series are frequently encountered in near-uncirculated condition, suggesting modest vending-machine use at best.
