Obverse description Draped bust of Louis XV facing right, depicted as a young king with flowing hair falling to his shoulder, engraved in the style of Norbert Roettiers. The portrait is rendered in moderate relief with fine drapery details at the truncation. The circular Latin legend LUDOVICUS. XV. DEI. GRATIA surrounds the effigy, identifying the king by his regnal name and divine grace. A small mint mark appears at the base of the bust. The overall style reflects the early Bourbon portraiture tradition characteristic of French royal copper coinage of the early 18th century.
