| Reverse description | The arms of Tournai — a quarterly shield bearing the heraldic devices of the lordship, including fleurs-de-lis and diagonal bands — surmounted by an open royal crown. The shield is surrounded by a decorative wreath or floral ornamental border. The circular Latin legend PACE ET IVSTITIA (Peace and Justice) runs around the periphery within a beaded rim. The overall design is characteristic of the hammered copper coinage struck at Tournai during the period of the States in Revolt against Spanish rule. |
