Obverse description Central field features a crowned royal cipher consisting of two interlaced letters 'H' (for Henri) with a small orb or pellet at centre, surmounted by an open crown rendered in relief. The design closely imitates the liards of Henri III of France. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, partially visible along the irregular hammered flan.

Reverse description Central field displays a large floriated cross with trefoil terminations at each arm, quartering the field in the style of French royal liards of the period. Small fleurs-de-lis or decorative elements appear between the arms of the cross. A circular Latin legend surrounds the cross, incorporating the date 1585, with the inscription distributed around the periphery of the irregular flan. Traces of verdigris are visible on the lower field, consistent with the coin's billon composition and age.
