Issued to mark the 650th anniversary of Sighișoara's first documentary attestation, this commemorative continues Romania's long-running program of city-themed leu pieces. Sighișoara's medieval citadel has remained continuously inhabited since the Saxon colonists of the 12th century — one of the very few such fortified towns in Europe where that claim holds without interruption.
