Additional information

Albania's coinage program in the late 1920s was overseen largely by Italian financial interests following the First Treaty of Tirana in 1926, which effectively made the country an Italian protectorate. The "Prova" designation marks this as an official trial strike submitted for approval rather than a piece intended for general release. Most prova issues from this Albanian series were struck at the Rome Mint.

Approved circulation types from 1927 were eventually struck in quantity, making the trial pieces proportionally scarce survivors of the approval process.
