| Reverse description | The elaborate armorial achievement of the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia occupies the entire reverse field, rendered in fine detail against a mirror-polished background. The quartered shield displays a lion rampant, a stag, and other heraldic charges, with an inescutcheon at centre bearing additional arms. The shield is flanked by two ornate baroque supporters — a rearing horse to the left and a griffin to the right — amid scrolling acanthus mantling. Above the shield rises an ornamental helm surmounted by crossed palm fronds and a crozier as crest, all enclosed within a beaded outer border. The design, engraved by Jānis Strupulis, faithfully reproduces the full ducal coat of arms as used during Jacob's reign. |
