Reverse description The outer silver ring features a continuous sequence of the eight lunar phases rendered in relief, forming a celestial border. The central niobium disc depicts a bird's-eye view of varied landscape elements — including fields, waterways, and terrain features — arranged in the form of a wreath. The composition evokes the passage of time through the interplay of natural and astronomical cycles. No legends appear on the reverse.

Additional information

The "Coin of Time" series, of which this is the third installment, was issued by the Bank of Latvia as an annual numismatic program exploring abstract concepts through unusual materials. Niobium's capacity to be anodized to specific colors — here, dark green — made it the material of choice for the series, as the color is structural rather than applied as paint or plating. Latvia was among the earlier smaller European nations to exploit colored niobium bimetallics as a deliberate artistic medium rather than a novelty gimmick.
