| Obverse description | Rectangular silver ingot-style coin with slightly irregular, hand-finished edges and a raised border framing the field. Four large Chinese characters rendered in bold, deeply incuse relief script read vertically downward: 嘉隆年造 (Gia Long Nian Zao, meaning 'Made in the Gia Long era'). A small circular seal impression is visible at the top edge of the coin, likely a mint or assay mark. The characters are executed in a vigorous cursive hand, characteristic of Vietnamese court workshop production of the early nineteenth century. |
