| Additional information |
Issued as part of Turkey's endangered species series, this coin brought attention to the great bustard (*Otis tarda*), a bird whose Turkish population has been in steep decline due to agricultural expansion across the Anatolian steppe. The species was once widespread across Eurasia; it now survives in fragmented pockets, with Turkey holding one of the last significant breeding populations outside of Spain and Russia.
