| Additional information |
Issued under Turkey's ongoing wildlife conservation coinage program, this piece belongs to a series the Turkish State Mint began expanding significantly in the 2010s to spotlight endangered and protected species native to Anatolia and surrounding regions. The Dalmatian Pelican, one of the world's largest flying birds, nests along Turkish lake systems including Lake Manyas and the Gediz Delta, both of which have been subject to active conservation intervention.
The 1 Kuruş face value renders it effectively a non-circulating commemorative in all but legal classification.
