| Obverse description | The central field bears the national emblem of the Turkish Republic: a crescent moon open to the right with a five-pointed star contained within its arc, both rendered in bold relief. The legend 'TÜRKİYE' arcs across the upper periphery and 'CUMHURİYETİ' curves along the lower periphery, together reading 'Republic of Turkey' in Latin script. The design is framed by a continuous beaded border running along the full circumference of the coin. The composition is clean and emblematic, reflecting the modernising aesthetic adopted by the early Turkish Republic. The engraving is attributed to Percy Metcalfe. |
