| Reverse description | The reverse field bears two lines of bold Jawi script, denoting the royal monetary authority of the issuing sultan. The upper line is rendered in a distinctive stepped or crenellated calligraphic style, with tall vertical strokes giving the legend a monumental appearance. The lower line, more compact and rounded in form, completes the legend. A border of small raised pellets or knobs encircles the entire design, a decorative feature typical of Kedah gold kupang of this period. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show the characteristic undulations of hand-hammered production. |
