| Obverse description | The crowned and mantled arms of the Duchy of Nassau occupy the central field, displaying the Nassau lion rampant on a horizontally-lined shield beneath a royal crown, the shield draped by an elaborate ermine-lined mantle tied at the base. The circular legend HERZOGTHUM NASSAU runs along the upper periphery, with the date 1817 inscribed in the lower exergual area.
