Obverse description Unadorned bare head of King Ludwig I of Bavaria in right-facing profile, with naturalistically rendered wavy hair and a short beard on the chin, executed in a high-relief neoclassical style. The truncation of the neck is sharply cut and plain. The circumferential legend reads LUDWIG I KOENIG VON BAYERN, divided across the upper field, with the king's name to the left and his title to the right. A fine toothed border runs along the coin's inner rim.
