Additional information

In 1986 the Royal Danish Mint produced a series of pattern strikes to evaluate proposed redesigns for the krone series. Type IVa designates a specific die pairing within that trial sequence — patterns from this exercise were never released for circulation, and most were retained institutionally or distributed to a small number of approved recipients. Surviving examples outside Danish numismatic collections are genuinely uncommon.
