| Obverse description | A typographically composed camp voucher printed in red and black over a green underprint, with the Austrian imperial coat of arms positioned at the lower right as the central vignette. The face carries bilingual authority text in German, including designated signature lines for the Deposit Administrator, President of the Administrative and Cash Committee, and Liquidating Accountant. Dated 15 January 1916, the note bears cautionary inscriptions restricting its acceptance and use exclusively to authorized personnel within the camp. |

Kenyérmező was one of several large Austro-Hungarian prisoner of war camps that issued their own internal scrip during the First World War — a practical solution to the problem of circulating official currency among prisoners who might otherwise hoard or smuggle it out. These camp issues were denominated to mirror the standard Krone system but were redeemable only within the wire, giving the camp administration full control over purchasing power and economic activity inside.
Campbell 1389 is among the more obscure of these issues. Very few PoW camp scrip pieces survived the war at all — most were demonetized and pulped upon camp dissolution.
