| Obverse description | Left-facing effigy of King Carl XVI Gustaf occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail to the hair and facial features. The royal legend arcs along the upper periphery reading KUNG CARL XVI GUSTAF, while the lower portion bears the inscriptions SVERIGE and AR 2000, separated by small decorative stars. The engraver's initials BT appear within the legend. The design, executed by Bo Thorén, presents a contemporary and unadorned portrait befitting a late 20th-century Scandinavian coinage tradition. |
