Reverse description A five-line German inscription occupying the central field, reading WEST- / PHÄLISCHE / FRIEDENS / MVNTZ / 1748, commemorating the centennial celebration of the Peace of Westphalia. The inscription is enclosed within an elegant circular laurel wreath tied at the base with foliate branches extending symmetrically on either side of each line, and the entire design is framed by a beaded inner border on the square klippe flan. The lettering is bold and deeply struck, in a period Roman capital style consistent with mid-eighteenth century German medallic art.
