| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing bust of Grand Duke Leopold I of Baden occupying the central field, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail typical of mid-19th century German die-engraving. The effigy presents the subject in civilian attire with a plain truncation at the shoulder.
