Obverse description Central quartered shield bearing the arms of Salzburg — a rampant lion in the dexter field and vertical barry lines in the sinister field — displayed within an ornate wreath of olive or laurel sprigs that frames the device on both sides and meets at the base. The shield is rendered in a plain, unfussy style typical of late 18th-century Germanic minor coinage. Beneath the wreath, on a slightly curved ribbon or base, appear the mintmaster's or mint initials 'S·B·' in raised relief. A fine dentilated border runs along the coin's outer rim.
