Obverse description Uncrowned and unhaloed imperial eagle displayed with head turned sinister, set within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend, commencing at 12 o'clock, reads in abbreviated Latin for 'Ferdinandus Princeps Hispaniae', denoting Ferdinand's title as Prince of Spain prior to his elevation as Holy Roman Emperor. The eagle's rendering is characteristic of early Habsburg hammered coinage, with bold if somewhat irregular execution typical of the period.

Reverse description The Austrian heraldic shield — bearing the distinctive red-white-red fess — is centrally placed over two shifted cross pattée devices of differing sizes: the smaller contained within the inner beaded circle and the larger extending into the legend field, effectively dividing the surrounding inscription. The abbreviated legend reads as 'Archidux Austriae' (Archduke of Austria), distributed in segments around the periphery. The overall composition reflects the dynastic heraldic conventions of early Habsburg coinage.
