Reverse description The denomination is displayed prominently across the field in three lines: the numeral 'I' at the top, followed by 'KREUZER' in the center, and the year of issue '1809' below. The mint mark 'BH' appears at the bottom of the field, identifying the Regensburg Mint. The design is stark and typographic, with no additional decorative elements, consistent with the functional style of small-denomination Scheidemünze coinage of the Confederation of the Rhine era.

Additional information

Charles Theodore von Dalberg was the last of the imperial arch-chancellors of the Holy Roman Empire, and when Napoleon dissolved it in 1806 he reinvented Dalberg as Prince-Primate of the newly created Confederation of the Rhine — a French satellite structure with Dalberg serving largely as ecclesiastical window dressing for Napoleonic consolidation in German territories. His coinage authority was real but brief, extinguished when Napoleon reorganized the Confederation and absorbed Dalberg's holdings into the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt in 1810.
