Czechoslovakia's post-independence coinage program moved slowly after 1918, with the new republic initially overprinting Austro-Hungarian notes and using provisional currency while a national coinage identity was debated. The 1 Koruna denomination went through several design and material trials before the cupronickel circulation type was finalized — this copper trial represents one of those intermediate tests, produced to evaluate striking characteristics and wear properties before a composition was committed to production.
Trial strikes of this type were never released publicly and survive in very small numbers, almost exclusively from institutional sources or old cabinet collections.
