Ugocsai Világítási Rt. was a regional gas and electricity utility operating in Nagyszőllős (today Vynohradiv, Ukraine) during a period when the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monetary system left towns across Hungary's northeastern counties scrambling to issue their own substitute currency. Utility companies issuing szükségpénz — emergency necessity money — was not unheard of in 1919, but it remains among the more unusual issuing authorities in the Hungarian emergency note corpus.
The Adamo MSZK catalogue places this among the Ugocsa county issues, a group that is genuinely difficult to assemble in any completeness today.
