Obverse description Within the square klippe flan, the quartered arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg are displayed on a heraldic shield, surmounted by a pontifical galero (legate's hat) with pendant tassels arranged in rows on either side. The shield displays the characteristic Salzburg episcopal heraldry. The circular Latin legend is divided around the shield, reading MAX:GAND:D:G:AR:EP:SAL:SE:AP:L:, referencing Archbishop Max Gandolf von Kuenburg's titles.

Reverse description Saint Rupert, patron saint of Salzburg, is depicted enthroned and facing the viewer, vested in full episcopal robes including a mitre, his right hand raised in benediction and his left hand holding a crozier or salt cellar. A nimbus surrounds his head, emphasizing his saintly status. The figure is rendered in a bold, high-relief baroque style characteristic of Salzburg klippe coinage of the period. The surrounding circular Latin legend, interrupted by the date 1668, reads S.RVDBERTVS.EPS.SALISBVRG:1668.
