Obverse description Two lines of Arabic script occupy the central field of this hexagonal cast tin coin, bearing the legend 'Haza al-Masruf' (This is petty money). The inscription is rendered in a simple, archaic Arabic hand characteristic of Malay sultanate coinage. The flat, unadorned field and plain hexagonal flan reflect the utilitarian nature of this low-denomination piece. Surface shows typical casting porosity and patination consistent with aged tin coinage from the Johor Sultanate.
