| Reverse description | A humped bull (Nandi) is depicted facing right in the central field, rendered in the schematic style typical of Madurai Nayak copper coinage. A Nagari letter 'Vi' (or 'Vee'), serving as an abbreviated dynastic identifier for the issuing ruler Virappa Nayaka, appears to the right of the bull near its forelegs. The bull's characteristic dewlap and hump are suggested in low relief despite the irregular flan and worn surfaces. The design draws on the ancient South Indian bull motif used continuously from Chola through Nayak coinage traditions. |
